As part of the service investment, the Early Help North Team are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Psychologist. The successful candidate will contribute to the upscaling and expansion of our stepped care model, utilising evidenced based and effective treatment.

The post allows the candidate to enjoy and experience the mix of preventative work, early intervention, and providing psychological interventions individually and in group format.

The postholder will have the flexibility of working in schools, our clinics and being part of our single point of access team that triages referrals and supports other professionals and families with advice and signposting information and expertise.

This post sits withing the Early Help North leadership team and is an ideal opportunity to develop leadership skills.

This will be an ideal post for a psychologist looking to gain experience in early intervention, service development and leadership.

Main duties of the job

Contribute time to the Single Point of Access triaging referrals and providing consultation and signposting advice.

Providing initial assessments and evidence-based treatment via our group programme and individually.

Providing psychology specific consultation to the wider Early Help Team and as appropriate psychology specific assessments.

Be a key player withing the Early Help North leadership team, contributing to strategic development of the service.

You will provide supervision to trainees, assistant psychologists and other clinical staff. There will be opportunity for innovation, service development, leadership and developing close working relationships with schools and partner agencies to enhance and grow our Early Help Service.

You will receive regular supervision from the Senior Clinical Psychologist for the Early Help team and will have opportunities to link with other Clinical Psychologists in the trust, as well as access to training opportunities offered by Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK], including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as approved by the HPC.
  • Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC
Knowledge/Experience Essential
  • Experience of specialist psychological working (assessment, formulation and treatment) with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient and residential care settings, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of applied psychology
  • Knowledge and skills in neuropsychology
  • Experience of the application of applied psychology in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framewor
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HPC.
