We have recently undergone a refurbishment of the Health Based Place Of Safety (HBPOS) at the Redwoods Centre, and are looking to recruit Band 5 nurses to join our team. The new POS (136 suite) consists of a 3 bedded unit, with secure outdoor space, assessment and office space and has been equipped with brand new furniture.

Whether you're newly qualified or have years of experience behind you, a career at the Redwoods Centre could be waiting for you. If you are a newly qualified nurse we will support you while in clinical practice and offer a trust preceptorship program.

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high quality clinical service to service users and their families and carers. You will participate in therapeutic group work programmes as well as taking the lead where appropriate. You will be required to administer medication and assess each individuals' care needs in order to develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care. You will also be required to support student nurses on placement.

You will need to be NMC registered and you will be required to work within the NMC Code of Practice and Professional guidelines.

Main duties of the job

Redwoods Centre is situated in the rural town of Shrewsbury, Shropshire. The hospital offers mental health care and treatment across a variety of different age ranges and presentation.

We welcome applications of newly qualified mental health nurses looking for opportunities for growth and development. This role would give you excellent experience and a firm foundation in assessment while in a safe environment offering interventions for a variety of mental health conditions.

The role will involve co-ordinating MHA assessments, liaising with West Mercia Police and CRHT, the approved mental health practitioner teams, and the local community mental health teams with regards to section 136 and Section 135 Mental Health Act assessments. It will also involve the delivery of focused clinical interventions prior to the Mental Health Act assessment whilst in the HBPoS.

When the place of safety is not in use the post holder would be expected to align with the acute wards as directed by the site manager.

Laurel, Birch and Pine are mixed gender adult acute Wards and are each made up of 16 beds

Oak Ward is a mixed gender, Dementia Service ward, made up of 16 beds

Holly Ward is a mixed gender, Older Adults ward, made up of 16 beds
