We are pleased to advertise a full time 6 month Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist post within the Croydon CAMHS service. Croydon CAMHS is an innovative, enthusiastic service that utilises a model based on iTHRIVE. As a result, we have an exciting opportunity for one Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the service for a 6 month period of time to offer input to the treatment teams within the service.
Main duties of the job
To offer Consultant Psychiatry input to the treatment teams within Croydon CAMHS. This would involve Psychiatric assessments, management of cases and providing support to the wider Multidisciplinary Team. There is also an expectation of involvement with neurodevelopmental assessments, therefore experience or interest in this field would be welcomed.

Croydon CAMHS is a service that utilises a model based on iTHRIVE - as a result there are two main treatment teams within the service.
The Getting Help team is an MDT which includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing, family therapy and other disciplines that service children and young people aged 0-18 years who are registered with a Croydon GP and have moderate to severe mental health difficulties. This post involves consulting to care coordinators, direct clinical contact for diagnostic clarification, risk assessment, medication suitability etc. and follow ups. Attending the MDT meetings to contribute and oversee care planning in line with evidence based practice.
The Getting More Help team focuses on providing more complex packages of care such as when two therapies are required concurrently and for young people who have had involvement with Tier 4 services. The team also provides clinical care to young people who are not engaging with conventional treatment but present with significant mental health problems.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Fully registered Medical Practitioner & inclusion on Specialist GMC Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- MRCPsych or equivalen
- Sec 12 (2) and approved clinician approved (or undertaking to obtain this on taking up the post)
- Higher degree or additional qualifications
- Completion of Higher Psychiatric Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or Equivalent training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CESR issued by PMETB)
- Training will have included psychiatric inpatient management of children or adolescents
- Approved qualifications in relevant therapeutic practice e.g. CBT or Family Therapy
- Special interests either in neuropsychiatry or forensic psychiatry/Looked After Children
- Trained in undertaking specialist assessments for Autistic Spectrum Disorder (e.g. ADOS)
- Demonstrated clinical skills in child and adolescent psychiatry
- Considerable competence in child and adolescent psychopharmacology
- Competence in non-medication therapeutic approaches
- Considerable competence in risk management
- Experience in training in the assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders i.e. ADOS trained and experienced in its use.
- Compliance with Clinical Governance guidance structures and principles
- Participation in audit
- Managerial leadership qualities and experience
- Experience of and interest in developing post-graduate teaching
- Experience of training junior doctors
- Experience of audit or research projects
- Ability to travel
- Membership of Medical Defence Organisation
