This unique Specialty Doctor post is available because the previous post-holder has joined a psychiatry higher training programme. You would be working within an experienced and well-staffed team that provides care to the diverse population of Tower Hamlets, one of Londons most vibrant and exciting, yet also deprived and socioeconomically split boroughs. The team works with patients and their families to provide high-quality mental health crisis care in the community as an alternative to hospital admission. You be will working between this service and the Criminal Justice Liaison Diversion service, an innovative and nurse led service providing mental health assessment for people in custody and courts. This job is one that allows your current knowledge and skills to develop further within a supportive and friendly clinical environment, whilst ensuring you can develop your own individual ideas and be respected for bringing your unique skills to our service.

Main duties of the job

Speciality Doctor in Home Treatment Team (HTT) and the Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Service at Mile End Hospital, Tower Hamlets.

This full-time (10PAs) position comes about following the current post holder getting on to Higher Training. This post offers excellent learning opportunities.

The post-holder will have the option to rotate after 24 months to a different Specialty Doctor post within Tower Hamlets Adult Mental health Directorate for example Psychiatric Intensive Care ward, or a neighbourhood community mental health team.

Person Specification Education Essential
  • Medical degree, MBBS or equivalent (A)
  • License to practice with the GMC (In good standing and if relevant up to date with regards to revalidation)
  • MRCPsych (A)
  • Eligible for Section 12 Approval (Mental Health Act
  • Higher degree (A)
Previous Experience Essential
  • 1-2 yrs training at CT1-3 grade or higher in psychiatry (A)
  • Min 2 yrs clinical experience as a Speciality Doctor or equivalent in Psychiatry (A)
  • Previous experience of working in the community mental health setting (A, I)
  • Interest in the principles of recovery oriented practice. (A, I)
Skills Essential
