Are you passionate about female services? Do you have a keen interest in gender and trauma informed care delivery? Are you looking to develop your career in women's services in a mental health inpatient setting?

We are looking for highly motivated Staff nurses who can demonstrate excellent clinical and interpersonal qualities. There are currently four posts available, on our 18 bedded female acute Wards at the Harbour. (Shakespeare Ward and Stevenson Ward).

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must be willing to work as part of a Multi-disciplinary Team to deliver high quality person centered care in a fast paced environment. They must also have a positive outlook and be able to engage with patients, carers and other stakeholders, which a key priority.

You must be able to provide clinical leadership and motivation to develop the existing staff whilst maintaining high professional standards, demonstrating commitment to staff development and patient care.

You will promote and maintain high standards of care whilst supporting and assisting to implement local and national strategies and initiatives.

You will need to possess excellent interpersonal skills, have leadership and staff development skills. A strong commitment to your ongoing professional education and development is essential.

If you are successful in this post, you will be given the opportunity to choose from long days, short shifts or a combination of the two. If you are working long days, this will consist of 13 shifts in 28 days. If you are working short shifts, this will be 5 short shifts a week with a combination of Early and Late shifts. If you choose to combine the two, you will work two long shifts and two short shifts per week. There will also be an expectation to rotate onto night shifts.

The successful post holder will be expected be able to rotate across the specialty areas and be able to work shifts covering 24 hours, seven days a week.

Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

  • On-going registration with the NMC.
Knowledge Essential
  • Can demonstrate an understanding and knowledge base of mental health conditions and their treatments, recovery principles and person centred care
  • Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and Care Programme Approach
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team structure.
  • Experience of assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care needs
