We are currently recruiting for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy Team to support recovery and rehabilitation activities in the integrated care pathway at Cygnet.

Cygnet Hospital Ealing provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment, offering personalised treatment for service users with an eating disorder or personality disorder over two separate wards.

Main duties of the job

The Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves planning and implementing therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs, choices and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will also be working with the in-house MDT which is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us.

Summary of the site

Cygnet Hospital Ealing provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment, offering personalised treatment for service users with an eating disorder or personality disorder over two separate wards.

The team works hard to support individuals in their recovery and personal transformation. They make use of a range of therapies including psychodynamic, family, occupational, art, drama and complementary therapies. They also believe very strongly in patient-centred care, and involve their service users in shaping their own treatment, and in all aspects of hospital life.

Cygnet Hospital Ealing is well-resourced and located in a leafy, residential area, with excellent links to the M25 and central London. The hospital building was once a house and has retained its homely feel, thanks to their welcoming, friendly staff and pleasant surroundings.

The successful candidate would spend their time planning and implementing therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs, choices and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist.

The role is primarily based on New Dawn Ward, nine-bed Personality Disorder service. However, it will also require some cross-cover on Sunrise Ward, a 14-bed Eating Disorder Service.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will also be working with the in-house MDT which is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
