Main duties of the job

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous clinician, providing specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction. You will lead the occupational therapy department, and be part of the senior management team. An integral part of this role will be supporting student education within the team. This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOTs Career Development Framework.

About Us

Your Role
Salary:£20,000 per annum (up to £50,000 FTE)

Working hours:16 hours (2 x shifts per week)

Service Line:Learning Disability Mental Health

Summary of the site
Cygnet Bostall Houseis a high dependency complex care service for up to six men with a learning disability and associated complex needs. The team can also support those with additional mental health needs and behaviours that may challenge.

The in-house Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) supports is comprised of the nursing team, psychology, psychiatry and speech and language and occupational therapy. The occupational therapist is supported by a full-time occupational therapy assistant.

Cygnet Bostall House is a spacious detached property, surrounded by beautiful parks and gardens in the heart of Abbey Wood, London. Individuals have a choice of lounges and communal areas to relax in, an activities of daily living (ADL) kitchen, as well as the benefit of 2 large gardens. Locally there is a large and varied choice of community activities, including bowling, gyms, cafs and shops. For more variety in activities, central London is only half an hour away by train. Individuals are also supported to access education at local colleges and have paid or voluntary work placements to increase their independence.

The goal is to enable individuals to structure their time; build relationships and establish a balance between therapy, self-care, work and leisure as appropriate to their individual needs.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Requirements
