We are pleased to be recruiting to a Clinical Team Co-ordinator post within this exciting new and developing service. The development of these services is in collaboration with NHS England and the Department for Education, following on from the 2017 Green Paper Transforming children and young people's mental health provision. This is a roll out of the work to improve access to mental health care for young people set out in the NHS Long Term Plan.

Southampton has 4 Mental Health Support Teams and almost have city-wide coverage for its schools and colleges, where the teams will work within education settings to provide early intervention for mild to moderate mental health issues and provide help to staff in schools and colleges. Teams will also act as a link with local children and young people's mental health services.

As of the new year the intended clinical team structure will be that of 4 EMHP Trainees, 10 qualified EMHPs, 2 EMHP Supervisor Trainees, 4 Senior Wellbeing Practitioner Trainees and 4 CBT Therapists. The team also comprises of the Team Manager, Clinical lead and Clinical Team Co-ordinator (this post), offering clear reporting and governance structures within the team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder would offer specialist knowledge and practice skills in delivering evidence-based intervention for children and young people in education setting with mild to moderate mental health problems and offer consultations and training to local schools and colleges. This post is structured to have clearly defined clinical time and leadership time.

We are looking for candidates who have a core profession and specialist knowledge and skills within children's mental health alongside leadership experience. The post holder will work alongside the Team Manager and Clinical Lead as part of a dynamic mental health team in a creative environment where evidence-based interventions, new ideas, ways of working and supporting children and young people are actively encouraged.

Job description Job responsibilities

*To share responsibility for, and to provide, specialist child psychiatric service within the Mental Health Support Team (MHST).

*To be responsible for delivering highly specialist clinical intervention in a way that is integrated with the work of other disciplines within the Mental Health Support Team.

*To be responsible whenever appropriate to liaise closely and integrate specialist role with the work of other agencies

*To provide expertise and highly specialist advice in area of expertise, guidance and consultation to other professionals, contributing directly to family treatment plans.

*To oversee the provision of specialist role input into the placements of trainees and a range of professions.

*To manage referrals and to assess the needs of referred child and family, develop implement and evaluate appropriate interventions.

*To contribute to highly specialist child psychiatric perspective in team clinical management discussions.

*To attend Case Conferences, Core Group Meetings, TAC's and other relevant meetings as required.

*To work and sit in constrained positions for substantial periods of time during interviewing and therapy sessions.

*To ensure children, young people and their carers/significant others are included in planning implantation and evaluation of care.

*To ensure that care is delivered in a person-centred manner ensuring the gender, ethnic cultural and spiritual needs of service users inform practice.

*To act in accordance with legal requirements within the Mental Health Act 1983, the Children Act 1994 and other relevant legislation

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

• Professional qualifications relevant to CAMHS e.g. Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Other related therapies.
• Degree or equivalent level training relevant to Child and Adolescent Mental Health
• Significant senior practitioner experience in CAMHS setting

• Teaching Qualification
• Management or training qualification

Experience Essential

• Experience of working with complex children, young people and families, experiencing mental health and trauma difficulties
• Supervisory skills -- caseload management and clinical supervision
