An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the Maryport & Cockermouth Rehab Team, located in North Cumbria, next to the beautiful Lake District.
We are a motivated and proactive team, supporting a varied workload. We provide admission prevention, supported discharge, long term rehab and post op care / advice. We assess and treat patients within their home environment, as an out-patient and in clinics setting.
The team consists of OTs, Physios, HCP Co-coordinators, APs, Hub administrators, RAs and Home Care Practitioners (HCP). We work very closely with the District Nurse team, GP practices as well as many other community services and agencies / professionals as part of the MDT.
There is a strong commitment to continuing professional development. This post offers the chance to develop clinical, supervisory and managerial skills so would suit an experienced band 5 wanting to step up to a band 6 level.
The successful candidate will need to be motivated and able to demonstrate excellent assessment and communication skills as well as good team working. Ideally with previous experience working in the community, leading group sessions and managing clients with complex needs.
Main duties of the job
The Community Care Group provides a range of adult community health services to people living within North Cumbria
We work closely with Commissioners, GPs, Acute Services, Community hospitals, CHOC, Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care and third sector organisations. It's key community health focus is to provide care to prevent hospital admissions, facilitate early discharge and where possible to enable patients to manage their own conditions and remain in their own homes, enhancing both their independence and quality of life.
The Community Rehab Teams in the Maryport & Cockermouth ICC provide specialist assessment and rehabilitation for patients with a wide range of long and short-term conditions, working closely with our health and social care colleagues.
Patients are seen as in-patients (in Community Hospital beds or Interim Community beds); in their own homes (including residential and nursing homes) or as out-patients (in clinic setting or Rehab Gym)
The core working hours of the service are Mon to Fri 8.00-16.00 but the post holder will be included on a rota to cover late shifts, weekend working and bank holidays. This is to support ICC working 7 days a week, 365 days a year 8am until 8pm. Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- CSP recognised Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Physiotherapy
- HCPC registered
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Evidence of attendance at relevant post graduate courses
- Completion of core junior rotations (Respiratory/neurological/musculo-skeletal/elderly care)
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
