Acute service area is looking to recruit a Clinical Nurse Manager for our Acute Inpatient service area and Acute Day Services. The inpatient units are based in the North of Birmingham. The Acute Day Services are located in two sites across BSMHFT

The post holder will be responsible for the operational management and leadership, planning and delivery of clinical services across the agreed portfolio with support from Ward Managers, Matrons and Consultants. The individual will also be a member of the senior management team who will contribute to the shaping of the strategic direction of the service and also to the Trust as a whole

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be highly visible spending considerable time in the clinical service area, having a presence at handovers, multi-disciplinary meetings and at other relevant times. The post holder will also have a specific focus upon Quality, Safety and Efficiency.

The role is pivotal in assisting the Clinical Director, Associate Director, Director of Nursing, Deputy Director of Nursing and Quality and other professional heads with the delivery of appropriate professional standards and clinical service across the Trust.

The role carries specific responsibility across the service for the provision of safe and evidence based practice and is accountable for the delivery of agreed outcomes for clinical teams.

Person Specification Essential/Desirable Essential
  • Qualified RMN with current registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Master's degree or demonstrable significant experience in a senior operational management role within a health or social care organisation
  • Extensive experience in a senior operational role with significant experience of managing complex budgets within allocated financial envelope and with human resource responsibilities
Desirable
  • Experience of working in a range of mental health services including Acute/In-patients/Home Treatment/ Assertive Outreach/CMHTs/ Respite
  • Experience in project management
  • Demonstrable evidence of having developed strong team performance and high levels of collaboration across professional groups
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering services to a diverse community
