You will provide managerial and leadership support to a range of therapists across both steps, 2, 3 and 3.5.

The service provides a range of treatments including, Counselling, Cognitive BehaviouralTherapy, Psychological Wellbeing Therapy, Clinical Psychology and PsychosocialInterventions. These are offered across step 2 and 3 for clients with common mental healthproblems. The service also offers through the intermediate therapy element interventions toclients who have greater complexity and chronicity of common mental health problemsThe post holder will be expected to maintain and develop relationships with the Access Teamand participate in the daily triage of referrals through an agreed process

Main duties of the job

Oldham Healthy Minds provides a range of evidenced based interventions for people requiring a psychological intervention utilising a stepped care model. The post is within a busy IAPT service on a permanent basis.

Staff welfare and professional development is of great importance within our service. To reflect this we offer regular clinical supervision individually as well as peer supervision every month. We provide monthly in house CPD and we provide the opportunity to access external training wherever possible and as identified in your yearly development plan.

Job description Job responsibilities

To attend regular Senior Staff meetings with the Operational Manager, Clinical Lead,Performance and Information Manager, Admin Co-ordinator and other senior staff toensure consistency of approach across the service. To ensure comprehensive risk and suicide risk assessments and care planning isdelivered by all clinicians. To support staff working in local borough SPOE and to act as interface leader in the caseof disputes or negotiations with secondary care colleagues and psychiatrists. Establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues within the service, andother mental health professionals both within and outside the organisation. Ensure therapists maintain a caseload of defined therapeutic hours whether this be 1:1therapy or group work, and ensure this is adequately supervised both managerially andclinically by an appropriately qualified person. Encourage effective, innovative and creative use of time, with particular emphasis onreducing lost time due to DNAs and CNAs.AFC 26/07/17 Healthy Minds Team Manager Band 7 Ensure staff work collaboratively with colleagues within primary care, plus other primary,secondary and third sector colleagues such as MIND and drug and alcohol services, inthe provision of an efficient and effective seamless mental health service for the borough. Ensure appropriateness of referrals to the teams using specific clinical decision makingcriteria. Attendance at Allocation Meetings for all teams when required. Establish and sustain individual working relationships with all staff within the designatedteam. Provide regular case management supervision for staff. Engage with both Operational Manager and Clinical Lead to ensure strategic direction ofprimary mental health care. Ensure all staff maintain professional standards as outlined by their professional codese.g. BABCP, BACP. Ensure all therapists work to brief therapy models, or if longer therapy is needed, this isdone in consultation with post holder. Provide, when requested, advice and guidance tocolleagues within the service regarding the psychological services, ensuring theappropriateness of referrals and effective management of clients. Ensure all staff are compliant and timely in delivering performance management statisticalinformation to Performance & Information Manager on clinical activity e.g. number ofclients seen, DNA rate, waiting list numbers, discharge numbers. In collaboration with the Operational Service Manager and Clinical Lead providetraining/professional development for staff in terms of general and specialist knowledge ofa range of subjects relevant to in house primary mental health services. Ensure each member of the team has a training and personal and professionaldevelopment plan in place. Ensure safe working environments for self and all staff, liaising with Practise / Clinicmanagers and other room providers in the event of problems which cannot be rectified bystaff. Ensure safe provision of mentoring / supervision to trainees, volunteers, students, andpre-registration staff by self or other appropriately trained therapists. To act up for Operational Service Manager if requested and attend meetings or representthe service when required Manage requests for study leave, TOIL, annual leave, travelling and other expense claimsin line with departmental specifications. Ensure staff provide statistical and audit information, plus evaluation of clinical activityand other information necessary for monitoring the service. Ensure the service provides diversity sensitive therapies to the local community andworks with BME Community Development Workers to deliver health promotion activitiesand develop innovative practise. Ensure all areas outlined in IAPT 4 Year plan e.g. long term conditions, older people, SMI(serious mental illness) are given sufficient work planning in consultation with Servicemanager and Clinical lead

Person Specification Education / Qualifications Essential
  • Diploma or Degree in Mental Health profession eg RMN RGN DipSW
  • Qualified to Diploma Level in a Psychological Therapy eg Advanced Diploma in Counselling (with Accreditation) or Other Psychological Therapy Training at Diploma level eg CBT
  • High Intensity Training (IAPT) Or can demonstrate a high level of clinical understanding of these therapies.
Desirable
  • Degree level in relevant subject eg Management, Business Planning etc
  • Supervision Qualification
  • Evidence of further Psychological Therapies Training
Experience Essential
  • Extensive experience of working in mental health, either in NHS Statutory or voluntary services.
  • Recent experience of managing health and social care professionals
  • Evidence of working in a multi disciplinary team.
  • Experience of risk assessment and management, and supporting staff with complex needs clients.
  • Experience of managing change.
  • Experience of conflict management
  • Experience of providing regular supervision.
  • Extensive post qualification experience eg 400 supervised hours of clinical practice or proven accreditation.
Desirable
  • Experience of working in Primary Care Psychological Therapy
Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of psychological practice and IAPT philosophy
  • Knowledge of Stepped Care model of mental health care
  • Knowledge of a wider range of therapeutic procedures and skills.
  • Knowledge of IAPT 4 year plan and its implications for practise.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based group work therapy procedures.
  • Knowledge of needs and underlying principles of 'user involvement'.
  • Knowledge of specific needs of BME communities and other diverse populations in relation to accessing mental health care.
