Sussex Partnership is involved in working with National Probation Service partners to deliver a range of services as part of the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated Service Manager. If you have a genuine passion for this area of work then we'd love to hear from you.

Core aspects of the OPD services are the formulation of clinically justifiable links between the traits associated with personality difficulties and the identified risk and the formulations of appropriate treatment and management plans informed by this understanding.

The Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service works with individuals leaving prison or forensic mental health care to support successful transitions to community living. The services provide a range of support depending on the person's needs.

This national initiative was launched following consultation led by the Department of Health and the Ministry of Justice which resulted in the re-investment of resources following the re-configuration of the Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder Programme.

The OPD service is across Sussex and Surrey.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing operational and leadership, and service development.

They will have chief responsibility in helping to develop the service model which will provide the framework from which therapeutic interventions to service users will be delivered. This post is a unique opportunity to contribute to the shape and development of an IIRMS team, working with partners within the OPD Pathway.

A key element of the role will be to develop partnerships to promote effective teamwork and an innovative and inclusive service.

You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary clinical team. As well as working directly with clients, you will also provide supervision and consultation to the MDT.

You will be an integral part of the community forensic services leadership team and you will need to have the skills to work across systems in order to achieve good outcomes.

Recognised qualification: RMN, Social Work, Occupational Therapy etc

Experience of practice in offender or secure care delivery at B7 would be beneficial

The four high level outcomes in the OPD pathway are:
  • For men, a reduction in repeat serious sexual and/or violent offending; or for women, a reduction in repeat offending of relevant offences
  • Improved psychological health, wellbeing, pro-social behaviour and relational outcomes
  • Improved competence, confidence and attitudes of staff working with complex offenders who are likely to have severe personality disorder
  • Increased efficiency, cost effectiveness and quality of OPD pathway services

  • Person Specification Qualifications Essential
    • Educated to degree/ diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience
    • Clinical/post graduate management qualification or equivalent level of experience and proven ability to perform at this level
    Knowledge/Experience Essential
    • Extensive experience of and demonstrable achievement in managing health/social care services
    • Management of resources and good track record with change management, efficiency savings and financial recovery plans.
    • Experience of modernising services without additional resources
    • Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders in the redesign of services
    • Experience of project management and imaginative planning
    • Experience of managing a diverse practitioner team (multi site)
    • Measurable track record in involving and motivating staff to improve performance
