An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a number of Independent Prescribers within our Older Adult Community Mental Health Service located in various sites across Kent. These highly skilled roles are designed to transform and modernise pathways of care, as part of an ongoing system-wide mental health transformation programme in line with the national Community Mental Health Framework (CMHF).

The posts will be hosted by the Community Mental Health Services for Older People (CMHSOPs), of which each team consists of Team Leaders, Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Community Psychiatric Nurses (CPNs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), Support Workers and an Administration team.

We are committed to staff development and the post holder will receive regular management and clinical supervision.

Main duties of the job

The Independent Prescribers, will provide expert clinical input to older people with functional mental health problems. Their specialist older adult knowledge and expertise will be invaluable in supporting the teams with the older adult functional mental health pathway, in order to provide enhanced capacity, capability, productivity and efficiency.

The scope of clinical practice will include carrying out clinical assessments, reviews and independent prescribing. The post holders will need to demonstrate strong leadership and will work in partnership with patients, their carer's and internal/external colleagues within the MDT to deliver high quality, evidence-based care. Other functions within the MDT may include leading risk board meetings and supporting the development of the service to be more streamlined and productive.

The post holder's main base will be dependent on your location. Please specify your preference in your supporting statement. The Trust also promotes Hybrid and Flexible Working as part of this role and dependant on service need.
