We are currently recruiting for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy Team to support recovery and rehabilitation activities in the integrated care pathway at Cygnet.
Cygnet Hospital Stevenage offers a range of secure and PICU and acute mental health services for men and women in a purpose-built therapeutic environment where the focus is on maximising positive outcomes and recovery. A range of therapies supports the care pathway towards independent living.
Main duties of the job
The Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves planning and implementing therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs, choices and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant will also be working with the in-house MDT which is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
Salary: £22,500
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapy Assistant looking for your next challenge? Do you want to join an established team and an organisation that truly lives its values? We are looking for a fantastic Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the team at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage.
The successful candidate will join the OT department and support the OTs in delivering evidenced based interventions. Organisation, leadership and delegation skills will be essential to the role in addition to sound knowledge of the Recovery Model and Model of Human Occupation. Experience of working with service users in a secure environment would be advantageous. The post holder will be expected to support the team in providing individual and group sessions to facilitate recovery and rehabilitation. Clinical and managerial supervision will be provided by an OT and training opportunities will be offered to support professional development.
You will be
- Passionate about occupation and its role in mental health
- Able and willing to work flexibly, to meet the needs of the service
- Have excellent organisation and delegation skills
- Able to demonstrate a good understanding of risk management
- Able to demonstrate an awareness of professional boundaries
- Motivated with a positive can do attitude
