There is an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Doctor working with the Bolton Home Based Treatment Team. The team is a Mental Health MDT serving the Bolton population, employed by Greater Manchester Mental Health. The successful candidate will be working with a dynamic, proactive, and supportive multi-disciplinary team consisting of a consultant psychiatrist, experienced nursing practitioners, psychologist and support workers.

The successful applicant will have CPD time built into their job plan and will have access to study leave and a study budget. We will expect the successful candidate to engage with professional development opportunities such delivering teaching and gaining management experience

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the Consultant and other team colleagues in the Liaison Service to develop a high quality, responsive, flexible and integrated service meeting the needs of its client group.

The post holder will be expected to assess, risk assess, treat and manage patients under the HBTT. The post holder will be expected to see patients in a variety of settings, mostly either in clinic at the hospital or in their own homes. The post holder will be expected to see up to 4 patients daily on clinic days. Flexibility is desirable due to the changeable nature of this patient group: an urgent mental health act assessment may need to be slotted into the timetable, or last-minute changes to the timetable are rare but expected occurrences.

The post holder will provide clinical support to other members of staff through the daily MDT meetings and flexibly as the need arises. The post holder may occasionally be called upon to do a physical health examination and perform venepuncture.

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Medical Degree
  • oSection 12 (2) Approval under Mental Health Act 1983 or be eligible for approval within 4 months
Experience Essential
  • Experience in working with a multi-disciplinary Team.
