We are looking for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our rotational scheme throughout acute hospitals and community settings. This is a temporary post to cover a maternity leave vacancy.

Main duties of the job

You will be welcomed onto a rotation that covers medical, surgical, orthopaedics, stroke rehabilitation, paediatrics and community hospital wards based in West Cumberland Hospital and Workington . You'll have the opportunity to work as part of a team, consolidating your skills as an independent practitioner, whilst also developing delegation skills to our dedicated support staff.

Our popular rotation appeals to Occupational Therapists wishing to explore specialist areas of practice with each rotation worked over 6 months.

You will enjoy the support of a strong Occupational Therapy network across both health and social care, which brings with it professional development opportunities.

You'll have access to high quality, regular supervision as well as being encouraged to become an active member of our Band 5 Peer Support Group.

We will offer an excellent induction, ongoing professional support, preceptorship, annual appraisal and a highly rewarding job to the successful candidate. We are keen to hear from both qualified, registered Occupational Therapists and those recently qualified who are awaiting HCPC registration in the coming months.

The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for all newly registered healthcare professionals.

Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

Disclosure and Barring Service:

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy

  • Evidence of post registration experience

  • Clinical experience as per training across a variety of clinical settings
  • CPD Portfolio demonstrating varied clinical learning experiences

  • Additional health related experience in health care.
  • Evidence of post registration, OT experience in acute settings.
