CAMEO is an award-winning CPFT Early Intervention in psychosis service expanding to offer an age inclusive service (14-65 years) across a three-year pathway. This includes an integrated at-risk mental state (ARMS) service. We are looking to recruit a CBTp therapist/clinical psychologist to join our friendly, dynamic, and busy CAMEO North team (based in Peterborough also covering Huntingdon and Fenland) offering some flexibility in base location.

This role can offer opportunities in CBTp, family work (FI and BFT), psychological interventions for at risk mental states as well as opportunities and training for skills development in key areas such as working with trauma, neurodevelopmental disorders, substance use and psychosis as well as other emotional disorders.

This community-based team utilizes a holistic, recovery orientated approach to care aimed at engaging, assessing, supporting, and enhancing outcomes for individuals and families experiencing first episode of psychosis and at risk mental states (ARMS). You will work with experienced Clinical psychologists/CBTp therapists who can offer supervision, further training/CPD and development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Established in 2002, CAMEO is a well-developed early in intervention in psychosis service that has had a significant impact on the development of the Early Intervention model across the UK and internationally. The service has excellent links with several academic institutions and continues to be involved in several multicentre research studies with ongoing opportunities for research, training, and service development work.

This role will include psychological assessment and individualised, formulation-driven interventions within a CBT framework as part service user's overall multi-disciplinary team care plan. Therapeutic interventions will be delivered in line with the National Institute of Clinical Excellence Quality Standards for Early Intervention in Psychosis Services and across the whole caseload which will include individuals with At Risk Mental States and those experiencing their First Episode of Psychosis.

Prior experience of working with psychosis or a wish to develop a robust professional working knowledge within this field would be essential. If you are a qualified and experienced CBT therapist / clinical psychologist with a proven ability to assertively engage therapeutically, ability to adapt your work across a wide range of clinical presentations and would like to be part of a service that aims to improve outcomes for people with first episode psychosis, we would look forward to meeting you.

To deliver CBT(p) informed by individual need and which utilise the appropriate range of cognitive behavioural theoretical and therapeutic models.

To continually monitor and evaluate the cognitive behavioural interventions provided, employing service specific outcome measures as required, reformulating and adjusting hypotheses and interventions as new information becomes available and liaising effectively with other professionals involved.

To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams.

To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, carers or group.

To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, psychological formulation, treatment and discharge of clients and manage and maintain a caseload in line with service guidelines.

To communicate, in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, to patients / clients, family carers and others as appropriate, information that may be contentious or highly distressing concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of patients /clients under their care

To provide specialist professional contributions to relevant multi-agency clinical meetings.

To undertake risk assessment and risk management when working directly with clients and to provide advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management, relating to the client and to others.

To produce reports on patients/ clients, in a timely manner, that conveys the key findings of psychological assessment and formulation and treatment outcome in a way that does justice to the complexity of the problems described, but that are understandable to the recipients of the reports, including clients and referrers. To ensure that these reports are put in all appropriate medical notes both in the base and network

To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients within the service and, where appropriate, across all settings and agencies serving the client group.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential

• An upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology
• Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society

Desirable

• Further post graduate training or a doctoral degree in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis
• Experience of clinical research

Experience Essential

• Working in an NHS mental health service or social care environment
• Research experience/clinical trials experience
• Experience of administrative work including data management
• Able to apply a comprehensive understanding of relevant NHS systems and procedures and an awareness of activities in the broader work area

Desirable

• Experience of working with patients with first episode psychosis, people at high risk of developing psychosis or other vulnerable groups
• Experience of delivering structured therapy programmes (practical working knowledge of at least one relevant psychological approach e.g. CBT)
• Experience of assisting in the delivery of therapeutic groups

Knowledge & Skills Essential

• Post holder should be enthusiastic about research in Psychosis and supporting clinical service delivery
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to work under own initiative and independently outside the department without direct supervision
• Clear verbal communication and engagement skills, and be flexible and confident in working with service users with psychosis, as colleagues and research participants
• Ability to communicate with wide range of people and demonstrate customer care skills

Desirable

• Previous knowledge of psychosis, early intervention model

Personal qualities Essential

• Ability to exercise appropriate levels of self-care and to monitor own state, recognising when it is necessary to take active steps to maintain fitness to practice
• Ability to travel independently across the CPFT area
