Main duties of the job

Job Summary:

To work with service users in the community rehabilitation service to support unemployed service users to explore, identify and achieve vocational goals that have meaning and relevance to them as individuals.

Principally the role will involve identifying and working to remove clinical barriers that inhibit service users from engaging in employment in the wider jobs market and with service users within partnership agencies. This will include signposting service users to more appropriate services when required.

The post holder may need to work with potential employers to provide support and advice and to continue to do so once a service user is in employment.

Additionally, the role may involve working with individuals to retain employment through support and liaison with employers.

These interventions may occur with both individuals and groups. In addition, the post holder will be required to undertake assessments and interventions on a commercial basis to generate income for the service and in line with their professional background and level of expertise.

They will also be required to assist with the development of service user apprenticeship programmes.

  • Corporate: Work closely with colleagues, managers, corporate directorates and partner agencies to continuously improve services
  • Service Specific: To take account of the diversity of local communities, striving at all times to promote personalised care, wellbeing, safety, personal recovery and social inclusion. To take all opportunities to maximise benefits for service users and their families / carer Will be responsible for ensuring that the relevant clinical care outcome measures are being recorded
  • Clinical: To provide a range of clinical vocational and profession specific input across the range of service users accessing the service.


Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential
  • Degree holder
  • Professional qualification and contemporary professional registration in a relevant health field. (Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Physiotherapy or Nursing)
  • Completion of a preceptorship programme
Desirable
  • Practice placement supervisor/mentors training
  • Personal lived experience of mental health issues.
  • FCE, TSA & JDA trained
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working in a community-based mental health environment
  • Experience of working within the recovery model
  • Experience of using a range of standardised assessments, measuring both physical and psychological function
  • Experience of working with mental health service users both individually and in groups
Desirable
  • Experience of working within a vocational context
  • Experience of supervising students
Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of interventions specific to mental health vocational practice.
  • Knowledge of main models used in vocational rehabilitation. Good knowledge of IPS. Knowledge of the recovery approach and its associated practice
  • Good knowledge of the Equalities Act 2010 and other associated employment policy and legislation
Desirable
  • Knowledge of clinical governance
  • Knowledge of clinical audit and research
