Occupational Therapist Community MH Enablement Pathway - Band 6

Full time and part time hours available across the Trust - to be discussed at interview

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Occupational Therapists to work within a dedicated, mental health, community enablement pathway, whilst supporting the current Transformation programme across secondary mental health care services within Coventry and Warwickshire, following substantial new investment.

We are as excited by this service development and the opportunity it provides to improve patient care, reduce the need for inpatient treatment and contribute to the development of innovative interventions. The expansion of services will provide clinicians with an opportunity to shape its development and evaluate new ways of working in the field; part of a well-established but expanding multidisciplinary team.

This opportunity will utilise the specialism of Occupational Therapy to work within a rehabilitative framework of empowering and enabling, whilst maximising independence and adhering to a recovery focused outcome whether this be employment, training or sustained meaningful activity and routine.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be required to provide Occupational therapy assessments and interventions that are evidenced based with a comprehensive knowledge of relevant occupational therapy models.

Working in conjunction with team leads, service lead, and professional leadership, there will be an opportunity to focus on occupational therapy areas of quality, service improvement, innovation, and research.

The post holder will be expected to support and promote a set of values that maximise the potential of individuals by promoting their recovery with the aim of reducing social exclusion, stigma and the potentially disabling effects of severe mental illness. Therefore, this role will primarily focus on using occupational therapy assessment and interventions.

The post holders will offer a range of, outcome focussed, Occupational Therapy interventions which will encourage positive risk taking and require working creatively, whilst providing recovery focussed care planning and achieving person centred recovery outcomes.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Relevant Professional Qualification in OT
  • Current unrestricted registration with HCPC
  • Specialist knowledge across a range of procedures and theory
  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree/ diploma
  • Relevant training and experience specialist short courses
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge and skills Essential
  • Excellent written communication skills
Experience Essential
  • Substantial experience in a mental health setting.
  • Experience of using recovery focused intervention
  • Developed specialist clinical knowledge gained within a similar environment over a considerable period of time
  • Significant experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and positive risk taking
  • Experience of safeguarding
  • Experience of supervising / overseeing staff and students
Other Essential
  • Must have full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle for business use
