Cygnet Woking/ Woking Lodge is a 91 bedded hospital with a variety of different wards, including two locked rehab wards (male), two low secure services (male and female), two acute wards (male and female), and a PICU (female). We have a designated qualified OT and OTA on each ward as well as Activity Coordinators supporting the activities around the hospital. Our environment has a holistic focus and includes a gym, ADL kitchen, Recovery College, Hair Salon, library, Tuckshop and other therapeutic spaces

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of patients within the service.

In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to our patients diagnosis and identified needs.

This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly.

Prioritisation skills are key to manage the caseload of clients effectively and you will work closely with the Occupational Therapy and multidisciplinary team onsite.

Service Line: Mental Health Adults (Acute)

Summary of the site
Cygnet Woking/ Woking Lodge is a 91 bedded hospital with a variety of different wards, including two locked rehab wards (male), two low secure services (male and female), two acute wards (male and female), and a PICU (female). We have a designated qualified OT and OTA on each ward as well as Activity Coordinators supporting the activities around the hospital. Within this role, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs on the female acute ward (Picasso) under the supervision of Head OT. You will hold supervisory responsibility for others, and take a leadership role in specific projects. An integral part of this role will be supporting student education within the team.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with Psychology, Psychiatry, Nurses, mental health support workers and ward admin staff.

As a member of the OT team, you will be supported and work alongside qualified OTs, OTAs and activity coordinators.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

Occupational Therapy Preceptorship & Induction:

We understand the pandemic has brought with it challenging times, and we recognise this may have had an impact on some of your placement experiences. We offer an Occupational Therapy 12 month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills.

Requirements
