Main duties of the job

Nurse Practitioners are a valued and active members of the ward team who will deliver effective care and treatment to service users whilst playing an integral role within the multi-disciplinary team. We require dynamic individuals with a genuine interest and positive attitude who wish to pursue a challenging career in mental health nursing.

For newly qualified nurses, we provide additional and bespoke support during the preceptorship period to ensure that individual needs and objectives are achieved. The Team will work alongside you to enable development of the skills, knowledge and competencies that you need to successfully complete your preceptorship and to feel confident in your role as a nurse.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

• Professional Qualification: Nursing PIN

Desirable

• Evidence of post registration study.

Experience Essential

• Experience of working with a range of people with mental health problems
• A demonstrated understanding of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act

Desirable

• Experience of working on an adult acute inpatient ward
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team

Knowledge/skills Essential

• Able to communicate effectively.
• Possess good listening and negotiation skills
• Ability to work as a member of a team
• Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of: The Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Health & Safety/Risk Management,
• Quality and clinical audit
• Demonstrate knowledge in the concepts of mentorship, preceptorship and supervision

Desirable

• Appreciate the process of standard setting and audit
• Awareness of least restrictive pathways of care
