Community Learning Disabilities Occupational Therapist Band 5 /Band 6 Part Time (30hrs)

Are you an enthusiastic, passionate, forward thinking Occupational Therapist looking to develop their skills and experience?

The Community Learning Disability Team covering patients living in Ferndown (and surrounding areas) and Purbeck, is staffed by a passionate, supportive and dedicated team, and is looking for a like-minded Occupational Therapist to join us.

This is an excellent opportunity to practice Occupational Therapy within the rewarding field of community learning disability.

Working part time (30hrs per week) the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their commitment to work proactively and in partnership with people with learning disabilities, their families and carers, supporting them to live successfully in the community. This role requires you to maintain effective links with mainstream services, working in partnership with the CCG to support equal access. You will be committed to improving outcomes for our service users and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, in supporting health and occupational needs to support and empower people with a learning disability.

Main duties of the job

To assess the impact of a person's learning disability on their occupational performance and work with the person to support their engagement in occupation, promoting independence and community participation. This will be implemented in accordance with the Valuing People principles of providing opportunities for people with learning disabilities for greater independence, choice, well-being and control.

Employment in this post requires a Standard/Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £23/£40 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments.

Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service and are able to present a valid DBS certificate will not incur a charge.
