This is for a fixed-term Band 6 post based in Carlisle.
We are seeking a passionate, innovative and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Children's Community Occupational Therapy team covering areas in West Cumbria, on a permanent basis.
Working as part of an integrated team with other specialist therapists, you will be required to lead in providing contemporary evidence -based assessment, advice and therapy to children and young people with a range of needs, working with them, their families and supporting agencies.
This is an exciting time to be joining the team as you will have a chance to shape the direction of the team in collaboration with the wider County Children's Occupational Therapy team. As such you will require skills in service development and leadership.
You should have a degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- HPC registration
- MSc/BSc Degree / Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Active member of Children and Young People's Specialist section of RCOT.
- Documented evidence of continuing professional development to this post.
- Knowledge of a wide range of Occupational Therapy treatment techniques
- Knowledge and experience of using the Model of Human Occupation
- Knowledge of the appropriate legislation relating to children and how this applies to occupational therapy
- Experience of prescribing specialist equipment
- Previous involvement in environmental adaptations
- Evidence of involvement in service development
- Some knowledge of current NHS trends which influence service provision
- Knowledge of a range of currently available Children's specialist equipment
- An understanding of the Care aims approach
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- IT skills including word processing, e-mail and publisher skills
- Previous experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
- Able to supervise students
- Organisational skills demonstrated for example by the involvement in a particular project
