South West CMHT for older people services into West York Locality as well as

Selby, over 65 population of about 22000. Team receives about 400 referrals each year. The

CMHT provides Monday Friday 9am - 5pm assessment and treatment services which

include the provision of care for older people with functional mental health problems as well as complex organic care for patients in their own homes.

This is full-time post. The Consultant will provide input working to 6 direct clinical care (6DCC) and 2 supporting professional activities (2SPA) work programme for the West team. The Consultant will also provide input working to 1.5 direct clinical care (1.5DCC) and 0.5 supporting professional activities (0.5 SPA) work programme for the Memory team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing a community based psychiatric service to older people in the South-West Community Hub, working in and providing clinical leadership to the West older peoples team (6 PAs- DCC & 2 PAs- SPA). The Consultant will also provide input working to 1.5 direct clinical care (1.5 DCC) and 0.5 supporting professional activities (0.5 SPA) work programme for the Memory team.

Person Specification Experience Essential
  • Excellent knowledge in specialty
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
Desirable
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
Qualifications Essential
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych
  • Additional clinical qualifications.
