In a period of exciting change, Fylde and Wyre CAMHS are looking to recruit a Band 5 CAMHS Practitioner to complement the wider multi-disciplinary CAMHS; a busy, friendly service providing a range of treatment approaches to children and young people 0 - 18yrs including CBT, EMDR, Psychiatry, Psychology and Family Therapy. We also work in close collaboration with partner agencies.

We work with children, young people and families up to the age of 18years presenting with a wide range of moderate to severe, emotional and mental difficulties. Experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties would be an advantage.

We are committed to ongoing continuous professional development of our staff and as a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in various training initiatives, including CYPIAPT.

The hours of work are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. You must be passionate about working with children and young people with a wide range of moderate to severe mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed CAMHS Practitioner to join our Fylde and Wyre team. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide high quality assessment and clinical intervention with children, young people and their parents/carers referred to the service. You will contribute to the business aims of the service through joint working, consultation, training, and attending supervision.

Applications are invited from qualified Registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists with experience of working with children and young people, who can demonstrate their skills, knowledge and experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties using a competency based framework.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential
  • 1.First level Nursing qualification, RMN or equivalent such as Social Work or Occupational Therapy. If no core professional qualification- meet the standards of the knowledge, skills and attitudes framework (attached below) 2.Additional further training or experience in CAMHS and Child Psychology 3.Specific therapeutic skills relevant to children and young people with complex needs 4.Information technology skills sufficient to the undertaking of the post
Knowledge Essential
  • 1.An ability to assess and treat young people with mental health needs 2.Specific skills and knowledge in evidence based therapeutic interventions relevant to this client group 3.Good interpersonal skills 4.Good knowledge of legislation, acts and developments relevant to the field of children, young people and metal health 5.Providing consultation to other professionals
Experience Essential
  • 1.Experience of working with children and young people with mental health needs 2.Managing own workload with effective liaison with others 3.Working in the community 4.Able to work autonomously and as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
Skills and Abilities Essential
  • 1.An ability to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of the developing service. 2.Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance required 3.Ability to travel frequently to different work bases
