An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time B6 OT within the General Rehabilitation and admission avoidance team at Clayponds Hospital to work in our skilled and friendly MDT in West London.

This role would suit a clinician who wishes to develop their clinical skills in in-patient rehabilitation in an admission avoidance as an in-patient setting.

This post is based on Magnolia ward, which is an integral part of the wider intermediate care Service

As the B6 OT you will be expected to carry a clinical caseload and provide the OT input on Magnolia ward. You will be required to work as part of the therapy team to provide holistic rehabilitation and discharge planning for our patients in Magnolia ward. You will work with the B7 OT who is based across two wards, the Physiotherapists in your team and rehabilitation assistants to contribute to the service evaluation and development.

There is free parking and therapy garden on site and opportunities to develop your specialist skills and knowledge and manage staff in a supportive environment.

Main duties of the job

• To provide a high quality, efficient Occupational Therapy service to patients with a wide range of physical and medical conditions referred to the in-patient admission avoidance/general medical rehabilitation unit at Clayponds Hospital.
• With senior support, to provide clinical expertise in the prioritisation and treatment of patients within the scope of the conditions referred to the integrated care service. To ensure that service provision supports the objectives of Ealing Community Partners and meets expectations regarding national guidelines
• The post holder will ensure the service provision supports the objectives of the Trust

This is a clinical role for a qualified Occupational Therapist in the general rehabilitation / admission avoidance ward.

To work within the clinical team, managing your own caseload including assessment, implementing and evaluating treatment and applying specialist skills to support patients presenting with varied and complex conditions.

To initiate and carry out audits, to plan and implement changes as appropriate, and to understand the role of audit within clinical governance.

To train and supervise junior staff in the team and support students on placement

Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential

• oDiploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy
• oHealth and Care Professions Council registration (HCPC).

Desirable

• oMember of BAOT

Experience Essential

• oSubstantial post graduate experience to include relevant specialist courses.
• oSubstantial experience within Physical health care at Band 5.
• oSuccessful completion of field work educator training course and/or first line management course and/or experience of managing junior staff.
• oMembership of appropriate specialist interest group.
• oEvidence of involvement in service development and/or service redesign programmes.

Knowledge and Skills Essential

• oKnowledge and understanding of the rehabilitation process
• oUnderstanding of community support agencies and other professions, and ability to work and liaise with them.
• oComputer skills.
• oEvidence of good organisational skills including prioritisation of workload and time management skills, and ability to work independently.
• oAbility to demonstrate knowledge of current legislative changes affecting the NHS especially those relevant to Occupational Therapy.
• oAbility to demonstrate knowledge of Clinical Governance, standard setting, the audit process and evidence-based practice (understanding of principles of clinical governance).
• oDemonstrates ability to work effectively in a team.
• oAbility to generate written communication, which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible.
