CAMHS East are looking for a Specialist Practitioner (Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker) for Additional Needs to join their multi-disciplinary team. CAMHS East offer mental health services for children and young people aged 0 - 18 years old in the Yeovil and Wells areas.
The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that patients with learning disabilities and/or autism and/or other additional needs who are accessing a Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team receive the highest possible standard of care.

Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist assessment, treatment, consultation and guidance to the multidisciplinary team in the management of patients with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Ensure that systems and processes are in place to identify patients with learning disabilities and /or autism and that their pathways of care are reasonably adjusted to meet their needs
- Ensure the availability of a comprehensive range of patient information, designed for and with patients with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Ensure that families and carers of patients with learning disabilities and/or autism are properly supported, informed and engaged
- Develop and deliver an effective training strategy in relation to learning disabilities and/or autism
- Develop a programme of audit to assess and identify potential improvements in the care of patients with learning disabilities and/or autism

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Recognised professional qualification at degree or equivalent level in Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social work
- Registration with the appropriate professional body
- Evidence of continuous post-qualifying professional development.
- Post-qualifying training in therapeutic interventions
- Have a Recognised qualification in assessing autism
- Knowledge and understanding of mental health disorders and Neurodevelopmental disorders in children and young people, and their impact on both the client group and their families/carers.
- Knowledge of a wide range of evidence-based treatment/therapeutic interventions.
- Knowledge and experience of risk assessment and risk management planning with high risk young people.
- Knowledge and understanding of RCPA (previously ICPA)
- Experience of working with children and young people.
- Experience of multi-agency working.
- Experience and understanding of Safeguarding Children and other relevant legislation and policies
