The Bolton Mental Health Directorate has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to apply for this role within the Bolton Directorate. We currently have a full time, 2 year fixed term contract for a Band 8a Operational Manager for the Older Adult Community Mental Health Service. You will have operational responsibility for the management of the Older Adult CMHT, Care Home Liaison Team (CHL) & Memory Assessment Team (MATs).

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide leadership and operational management to the older adult community services and will provide clinical leadership for the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring high standards of care are maintained. You will also support and lead the implementation of service improvements and will be a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to service decision making.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge and experience of working at an operational level within mental health and clinical experience in a range of mental health settings / roles.

This position will require the post holder to travel to other sites within the directorate and other Trust locations as and when required.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist Willingness to undertake relevant degree level study if not at that level
Desirable
  • Education to masters level (or equivalent)
  • Relevant management/leadership qualification/experience
Knowledge and Experience Essential
  • The post holder will be expected to evidence experience of working at a senior level within Mental Health Services in posts which required; oManagement of a diverse staff group
  • oApplication/Management of HR processes/relating to complex issues involving staff members.
  • oDealing satisfactorily with complaints from service users, carers and stakeholders.
  • oInvolving service users in service development and service provision.
  • oResponding to requests for detailed and complex information relating to incidents or service provision requested by Senior Managers (including Trust Board)
  • oAbility to manage, lead and motivate staff.
  • oAn overview of all current relevant legislation and policies impacting on community services.
  • oExperience of managing a multi-disciplinary service or function and be able to provide clear leadership.
  • oHave ability and experience to supervise and lead staff by providing a supportive environment, which contains workload management, supervision, appraisals, development and training opportunities.
  • oMaintain a positive attitude to change and show ability to manage, change, contribute to the development of services with key stakeholders.
  • oAbility to implement and maintain high standards of professional practice to ensure a quality and efficient service and contribution to policy and practice development.
  • oAbility to work to targets and deadlines
  • oAbility to problem solve and make decisions independently.
  • oExperience in setting quality standards and systems for the Service and establish ways of monitoring and evaluating the services.
