We are currently recruiting a Service Manager who will be one of three service managers providing direct line management, service development and governance for our five varied services managed within the Community Forensic Service.

The main focus of this post will be to oversee the Assertive Transitions Service which was initially a pilot service that has been commissioned to continue to serve patients in Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire and to expand this successful team into Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

Service managers will be supervised and supported by the Operational manager, with opportunities to develop themselves.

The role requires a dynamic person with a core clinical profession, who has developed excellent clinical and Managerial skills in the field of Mental Health or Intellectual Disabilities.

Main duties of the job

To provide general operational, clinical management and leadership within the Community Forensic Services with specific Governance of the Assertive Transitions Service (ATS).

The Service Manager will require proven ability to network and develop relationships with a number of partner agencies particularly in expanding the service to cover the East Midlands region.

Responsible and accountable for supporting the Operational Manager in the delivery of key performance indicators and for the delivery of agreed programmes of development and improvement, ensuring the objectives and targets are achieved as determined by National, Trust, Divisional and Social Care standards.

Contribute to the development of high standards of practice within the Clinical Service to ensure compassionate and effective care is provided to the service users across the Directorate.

To monitor performance, liaise and communicate with service users and carers and relevant partners and stakeholders to support service development and improvements and operational standards.

Job responsibilities

If successful you will be providing management support within the five community forensic services which sit within the Low Secure and Community Forensic Directorate alongside our low secure inpatient service provided by the Wells Road Centre.

The service provides care to people from diverse variety of backgrounds and cultures and we would encourage a diverse range of applicants to apply. The Services consist of a Multi Disciplinary group of staff with a supportive and friendly environment.

The teams include the Community Forensic Team who support service users with complex forensic histories in the context of a mental disorder and the Community Forensic IDD team who specialise in supporting service users to settle in the community from secure services as part of the Transforming Care Agenda.

The Assertive Transition Service provides wrap around care to Forensic patients as they transition from inpatient settings to the community. The Service includes embedded partner agencies Rethink Framework and St Andrews.

The Team operates form 2 base hubs St Andrews (South Team) covering Northamptonshire and Leicestershire and The Nottinghamshire Healthcare hub covering Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

The Liaison and Diversion team is an all vulnerabilities service which supports clients with Mental Health issues through the criminal justice process from the point of arrest with a presence in custody and the courts.

And Notts MBT (Mentalisation Based Therapy) Group who deliver largely group therapy to people in the community struggling with personality disorder issues.

This role requires an individual with a relevant professional qualifications and experience in the management and Leadership of people and services. The post holder will provide strong leadership and direction to the multi-disciplinary teams and professionals to ensure clear strategic way forward within the directorate.

The post holder will be required to have flexibility and adaptability to support the management of a multi professional resource, across a range of complex and diverse services, to ensure all aspects of physical and mental healthcare needs are met.

Deputises for the Operational Manager as required and works closely with Team Managers and other professional leads in the community forensic services.

The individual will assist in developing and implementing a detailed strategy for recruitment, retention, supervision, development and deployment within the Directorate.

The post holder will actively contribute to implementing the strategies for complaints, clinical governance, recruitment, professional development, security, health and safety, performance and quality, infection control, essence of care, safeguarding, user involvement and physical health care within the Directorate.

A commitment to promote compassionate care and excellent clinical practice to support service users to be the best they can be, recovery from illness, reduce their risk and move through their care pathway. To work as part of an MDT to ensure each service works in collaboration to ensure safe and effective practices are maintained.

Essential
  • Relevant professional health or social care qualification
  • Full professional registration HCPC/NMC required
  • Willingness to undertake training to support continued

Experience
Essential
  • Experience of working with patients with a mental disorder across inpatient and community settings
  • Relevant experience of working as a clinician in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in assessment of people with a high level of need
  • Experience at implementing CPA Pathway
  • Experience of assessing and managing risk
  • Experience of working with families and relatives

Desirable
  • Experience of forensic service
  • Experience of working with patients transitions between inpatient and community care

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislation, inclusive of restriction orders, community treatment orders, DOLS
  • Understanding of clinical risk assessments.
  • An understanding of relevant legislation and statutory responsibilities both Health and Social Care
