Full time, permanent role

The post holder will support the delivery of the MHST model within identified schools and other educational provisions considering outcomes and caseload flow so as to ensure as a service we are delivering a robust and continually improving approach, in order to promote the development, welfare and secure the wellbeing of children and young people and their families. The post holder will support schools and teachers in developing whole school approaches to mental health by providing specialist consultation and teaching to staff.

The post holder will also provide specialist CBT supervision to the other team members ensuring that the MHST model is adhered to.

The post holder will deliver services that are responsive to local and national directives and need, promoting a learning culture that leads to improved service delivery and robust clinical governance.

Main duties of the job

To work with other service leads and professional leads, to identify, model and implement evidenced based, safe and outstanding practice

To ensure efficient service delivery that yields high quality service user experiences and outcomes.

To take an active role in strategic planning and the development of the services and policies across the MHSTs including the contribution of children / young people and their parents / carers

To develop and maintain excellent working relationships and communication links with internal and external stakeholders, including commissioners and patients / carers.

To ensure interfaces with other services are effective and seamless and that transitions are effectively managed.

To communicate accurate and sensitive information to children and young people and their families/carers, taking into consideration relevant factors and protected characteristics.

To effectively communicate at all levels of the organisation, to a variety of health professionals, users and carers, to provide the best outcomes for patients.

To ensure awareness of sources of support and guidance and provide information in an acceptable format to all.

To work with the professional leads, and other service managers to develop an effective and motivated workforce within the area of responsibility which delivers services that are fit for purpose and are equitable and consistent across Coventry and Warwickshire where contracts allow.

To work with the professional leads, lead the development of all the team roles and structure the teams within the area of responsibility to promote joined integrated working for children, young people and their families.

To provide clinical support to teams and schools within the MHST

To be adaptable and able to cope with changes to patient flow at peak times and advice and treat in a timely and responsive manner.

Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Doctoral degree in: Systemic Family Psychotherapy or Psychotherapy or Psychology (or equivalent for those who trained before 1996) as accredited by the BPS
  • Masters level qualification or recognised equivalent qualification: Experience as well as evidence of CPD, specialist training and working towards a clinical speciality.
  • Evidence of recent professional development
  • Qualified Systemic Family Therapist Masters level UKCP registered. or
  • Qualified Psychotherapist registered with professional body ie. ACP approved Child Psychotherapist. or
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC). or
  • Occupational Therapy degree level qualification and registered with HCPC. or
  • Registered Social Worker with relevant social work qualification. or
  • Other Health professional with relevant post graduate qualification and relevant post graduate qualification in CAMHS related subject
  • Registration with HCPC where required
  • Professional qualification in CBT i.e. diploma or equivalent
  • Accreditation with BABCP or ability to work towards the requirements
Experience Essential
  • Post qualifying experience in CAMHS.
  • Experience of delivering CBT interventions for anxiety and/or mood disorders
  • Management experience in children's health care
  • Proven ability to work in partnership with a range of organisations.
  • Experience of staff management.
  • Experience of planning and developing services that have delivered high quality outcomes for children and young people
  • Experience of project and/or service management.
  • Experience of budget management.
  • Experience of planning and implementing service improvements.
Knowledge and skills Essential
  • Working knowledge of arrangements for children's health services and early help including knowledge of legislation, SEND, statutory guidance, government policy, practice guidance and best practice.
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop performance management, continuous improvement and quality assurance processes
  • Ability to devise and implement local policies and procedures relating to children and families.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence others including presentation, oral, written and IT skills.
  • Advanced IT skills in all MS Office applications and Trust systems
  • Ability to self-manage workload and work using own initiative.
