We have exciting opportunities for Fixed Term Band 6 IAPT Counsellors located across Worcestershire.

Would you like to join our team of highly skilled Psychological Therapists providing Therapeutic Interventions to patients with mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety? This role would suit a qualified Counsellor or Psychotherapist accredited with BACP / registered with UKCP; or working towards this.

The post holder will work within the service to provide assessments and 6 to 8 sessions of counselling to our patients. We operate hybrid working which includes remote and office-based hours, to facilitate face-to face, video conference and telephone sessions with clients.

In return we provide flexible working; regular supervision; opportunities for CPD and additional modality training. You will also have access to a wide range of wellbeing, occupational health, and support programmes including LGBTQ+, BAME, disability and carers forums.

Main duties of the job

A typical week will involve working autonomously and as part of a team. Working within a hybrid model you will take a blended approach to home and office-based working. You will work collaboratively with clients in your care to assess and provide psychological interventions and support individuals to work towards recovery. You will manage a caseload of individuals with mild to moderate depression and will keep abreast of the requirements to meet KPI targets. You will maintain clear and accurate clinical records and will be supported to reflect in and on practice via regular supervision. You will undertake CPD to further your skills and knowledge base and there will be opportunity to develop your skills by facilitating groups. You may have an interest in a Champion role as well as involvement in service promotion and development. You will share an effective interface both with your team and with relevant allied agencies within the care pathway.

Qualifications Essential
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling accredited with the BACP or equivalent
  • Maintains accredited status with BACP or equivalent professional organisation OR actively work towards accreditation and achieve within one year of appointment
  • Good record of Continuing Professional Development
  • Qualification in an IAPT approved therapy (e.g. DIT, IPT, PCE CfD)
  • Qualification in the provision of supervision

Experience Essential
  • Demonstrable experience of working with clients with mild to moderate mental health problems
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a Counselling service for clients with mild to moderate mental health problems
  • Experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the generic therapeutic competencies as outlined in the Roth & Pilling competency framework
  • Experience of successfully working with and treating a range of client problems
  • Experience of working in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
  • Experience of using routine outcome monitoring to monitor practice
  • Experience, knowledge and skill in one or more Counselling therapeutic modalities
  • Experience of accurate and detailed assessment and management of risk
Knowledge Essential
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how they may present in Primary Care
  • Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
Skills & Abilities Essential
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
