To support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions (individual and group work) under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist; working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, and training and project work. The post-holder will work within Trust policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

The Service provides input across the Offender Health Directorate into the SMT across a number of prison estates. The post-holder will be part of a vibrant busy team of professionals and will be required to work alongside and under the supervision of qualified clinical or forensic psychologists in relation to one or more clinical teams.

You should be enthusiastic, motivated, person-focused and enjoy a challenge. Previous knowledge or experience of Mental health, Substance misuse or Forensic/ Secure services is beneficial.

The Offender Health Directorate is one of the largest and most successful providers of prison healthcare in the UK. The Directorate provide physical, mental health and substance misuse healthcare services in prisons across the East Midlands, Lincolnshire & Leicestershire.The Directorate provides healthcare to 9 prisons and a short term holding facility. You are part of a large peer group of 400+ healthcare professionals with access to peer support, supervision and excellent opportunities for learning and development. We also offer services within the Personality Disorder Pathway, including Therapeutic Communities (within prisons), Community and Prison Personality Disorder services and specialist Veteran Services.We are committed to working in partnership with prison services, national probation service other healthcare providers and our criminal justice system partners to improve health, support justice to reduce re-offending behaviour. Person Specification
Qualification
Essential

• 1st class or Upper second class honours degree or 2.2 plus higher degree in Psychology; and ability to demonstrate eligibility to graduate membership of the BPS.

Desirable

• Further relevant post-graduate training (e.g. in Forensic, clinical or other applied Psychology discipline).

Work Experience
Essential

• Experience of working with offenders or patients with mental health problems/ intellectual & developmental disabilities/ personality disorders.
• Experience of working in Forensic/secure settings and mental health settings
• Experience of MDT and multi-agency working;
• Experience of completing risk assessments;
• Experience of psychometric testing (delivery, scoring and interpretation).
• Experience of delivering group or individual psychological work
• Experience of working under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.

Desirable

• Experience of supporting the development of structured group programmes;
• Experience of conference presentations, publications or teaching/training delivery.

Aptitudes/Skills
Essential

• Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context.
• Knowledge and application of formulation.
• Excellent communication skills
• Evidence of ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively; (reflective practice / learning/ safety)
• Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently with regular supervision;
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
• IT literacy for psychological data analysis (e.g. excel / SPSS)
• Knowledge of legal system or MHA (MH system)
