This programme will be delivered at University Centre Somerset - Taunton Campus and commences on the 30th January 2023.

Main duties of the job

The Nursing Degree Apprenticeship enables people to train to become a graduate Registered Nurse through an apprenticeship route. Nursing Apprentices are released by their employer to study part-time with the higher education institution, will train across a range of practice placement settings, in addition to their base placement. They are required to achieve the same standards as other traditional student nurses, but with all the usual benefits of being employed whilst doing so.

The successful candidates will be expected to travel to attend University lectures and to attend placements which could cover the entire county of Somerset and possibly beyond. We will be able to discuss this in more detail with you at interview.

Placement shifts will require the working of night-shifts, evenings and weekends, alongside Practice Supervisors/Assessors.Enhancements and travel expenses will be paid in line with the usual Trust processes.

About us

In line with this being a developmental training role, the Trust will be offering a wage that is consistent with the National Minimum Wage for apprentices.

All course fees for this study will be covered by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust through the Apprenticeship Levy.

As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, fantastic pension contributions, market leading annual leave allowance, career progression and regular conversations, not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.

The benefits of working in Somerset include the idyllic countryside, with our areas of outstanding beauty and stunning coastlines. You will get to enjoy these perks whilst still only being a stone's throw away from bustling city centres like Bristol, Bath and Exeter and only two hours away from London.

There are excellent educational facilities in the area and, when compared to other regions, house prices are reasonable. You will to experience the best of both in Somerset, the countryside and the cosmopolitan - there is truly something for everyone!
