This is a new permanent role created to help us deliver our plans to transform our community mental health services, as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. The transformation of our community mental health services will lead to truly integrated health and social care for adults in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey who have serious mental illness.

Our transformation plans are supported by £25m in funding and will mean the roll-out over the next few years of multi-disciplinary teams of experts working within the new Primary Care Networks and offering wraparound, holistic care to our service users and wider community. Our aim is to support the whole person as they live with, or recover from, mental illness and to offer them support with other challenges they may face, such as debt, relationship problems, housing, education or training. We will also focus resources on reaching those who currently face obstacles in getting the help they need.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Psychological Therapies Stream in Enfield Therapy service at a time of innovation and service development. The Enfield Therapy service is currently a secondary care standalone therapy service offering specialist psychological services. This role will be involved, as part of the wider team, in helping to adapt the existing service within the new transformation process. This process is in response to the NHS 10year plan to develop mental health services round the Primary Care Networks and provides new opportunities which include developing partnership working with the voluntary sector, working more closely with GP practices and developing more innovative, community based and holistic ways of working.

The successful candidate will be offering specialist psychological assessments and therapy of patients with complex presentations and take a central role within the Psychological Therapies Stream both supporting and developing the efficient running of the therapy programme of groups and various individual therapy approaches. They will oversee the supervision of qualified psychologists, trainees and other staff in the team. This role will also involve liaison with the voluntary sector, PCNs and other parts of the new transformation structure to offer specialist psychological consultation and input.
