An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist within our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service in Blackburn with Darwen. This post would suit a person who is an experienced Band 5 looking for a development role or a Band 6 looking to expand their clinical skills in pulmonary rehabilitation. The post is for 37.5 hours and happy to discuss flexibility if required.

You will be supported and supervised by the operational team manager and the Trust Professional Lead for Physiotherapy. The multi-disciplinary Pulmonary Rehabilitation team consists of Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse, Assistant Practitioner and Community Rehabilitation Assistant.

The physiotherapist will need to be confident and experienced in organising initial assessments, treatment and evaluation of care for patients at various local clinic bases or at patient's home. This is an exciting opportunity to support clinical development in the team. Alongside team members the candidate will be requirement to support with group (face to face and virtual) and 1:1 exercise and education sessions with patients.

Experience of working with patients with long-term health respiratory conditions, such as COPD, Asthma and Emphysema will be advantageous. Confidence with group work will be desirable.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide a high standard of specialist physiotherapy to the multi-disciplinary team. Successful candidate will support daily huddles and allocation of duties for the day. Service operates 8:30 to 16:30 Monday to Friday. The physiotherapist will work collaboratively to collate information and data for audits to support the development of the service.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team assessing and treating patients. They will plan individualised and group treatment programmes in the community. There will also be occasions when the physiotherapist will be working as an autonomous practitioner and will need to adhere to lone worker polices and procedures. The Physiotherapists will delegate evidence-based exercise and education programmes to the Assistant Practitioner and Community Rehabilitation Assistant.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service promote self-management, increase independence and encourage healthy lifestyle choices. The team collaboratively work with acute hospital, community and voluntary services and actively refer to integrated neighbourhood team.

The post holder will pursue their own personal development and participate in the development of others. They will supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets university expectation/standards.
