An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Mental Health Nurse, Psychological Therapist, Allied Health Professional or Social Worker to join our team. We are looking for candidates who are highly skilled with relevant experience of working with people with complex emotional needs and emotional difficulties to work in the Personality Disorder Stream in Enfield.

The Personality Disorder Stream has been developed from the model at the Halliwick Personality Disorder Service, the birthplace of Mentalisation-based treatment (MBT) which was developed and manualised by Peter Fonagy and Anthony Bateman. In addition to MBT we also offer Comprehensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Structured Clinical Management and are currently expanding our Family and Carers Programme. We also offer a small provision for people with Personality Disorder who require care coordination.

There is an emphasis on team based multi-disciplinary decision making in the treatment planning which lends itself to creating a supportive environment for staff. There is a good record of effectively supporting people with complex emotional needs towards a sense of satisfaction and achievement.

We aim to promote excellence and innovation in the provision of care to patients. There is a culture of continuous learning and development opportunities and we regularly offer consultation and training to wider services.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will undertake skilled assessment of emotional and psychological needs, working with the patient and using other appropriate sources of knowledge about the patient. The applicant will also offer individual psychotherapy in at least one of the offered modalities to a caseload of patients within the Personality Disorder Stream who may be part of the MBT programme, DBT Programme or Structured Clinical Management model. This will include formulating and implementing treatment plans with support of the MDT. As an allocated professional you will signpost and liaise with Social Care and other colleagues to support the service user to have their needs holistically met.

Supervision is central to the work we do. You will receive both Group and Individual supervision. You will also be supported to supervise junior staff.

As part of the national transformation programme within the NHS, BEH Community Mental Health services are in the process of transforming. We do not foresee this process greatly affecting the posts in the Personality Disorder Stream.
