Elmwood Ward is a 17 bedded, Organic Dementia ward. We offer assessment and nursing care to vulnerable adults. We are known to manage complex challenging behaviours leading to a safe discharge. We place a strong emphasis on providing a compassionate, collaborative, and safe environment for everyone on our ward and we are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Deputy Sister to join our multi-disciplinary team to support in providing effective mental health care in a safe and therapeutic environment.
Elmwood Ward’s MDT model includes; Nurses, Health Care Support Workers, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Activity Co-ordinators, Carer’s Liaison, Social Worker, Admission & Discharge Co-Ordinator, Medics and Pharmacy Technicians in order to give our patients the best possible care that we can.
We are looking for someone who is committed to working in a recovery focussed and collaborative manner and is enthusiastic, positive, and ready to work in a transformative environment. This is an exciting opportunity to have a more direct and creative influence on the leadership and running of the ward where we actively encourage and welcome new ideas and ways of working.
In joining our team, you can expect ongoing support from a dedicated supervisor who will provide clinical support and facilitate your ongoing development and a wider commitment to ensuring that you can be the best Deputy Sister possible. There is opportunity to further your training and take a lead role in areas of interest to you among many other benefits. We will provide access to training relevant to your role as a Deputy Sister and an opportunity to develop beyond this with access to the Southern Health Academy of Clinical Excellence, which can provide funding for external training and higher education as well as career coaching and mentorship, with protected time available to you to work on this.
We know how important a work life balance is and we are open to flexible working. There is an expectation to work unsocial hours and to meet the needs of the ward, but we welcome and will consider applications for part time working and condensed hours.
Our vision is to provide outstanding care and treatment - and the people that we employ are at the heart of making this vision a reality. We are proud to be a service that encourages everyone to be the best that they can be and make the most of their careers whatever their background. If you've got the passion, the belief, the drive and the talent to help us achieve our vision, and you are genuinely interested in caring for older people with mental health problems then we want to hear from you.
For further information regarding this position, please contact Ester Muteto – Ward Manager on 01256 376528
