Hi, my name is Donna and i am the Service Manager for the Urgent Care Services in Sunny Eastbourne.

We work within a multi-disciplinary environment sharing challenges with our colleagues in our General Hospital. This area of work requires you to be dynamic, forward thinking and have knowledge and expertise to undertake specialist assessments in a busy clinical environment.

This role requires you to assess patients admitted to ED or the General Hospital Wards who are exhibiting mental health concerns. We have a robust referral system in place and have developed effective working relationships with our General Nursing colleagues.

You will be supported by a clinical team of Senior Nurses and Psychiatrists working closely with our Support Workers to ensure any patients we assess are supported to reduce their distress.

We work closely with our Emergency Police and Ambulance colleagues who may request your advice relating to a person that has come to their attention.

No two days are the same in this post. It is a varied, interesting, challenging role which may suit you!!!!!

For an informal chat please contact Alison on 0300 304 0894 for more information. We would welcome informal visits to the service.

Main duties of the job

I am looking for practitioners who are confident in the management of common mental health problems and who can bring their knowledge to their general hospital colleagues both informally and by undertaking teaching sessions. You will need excellent communication skills and be able to foster excellent relationships with patients, carers, general hospital colleagues and other parts of the health and social care system.

This is a challenging but rewarding role, offering an exciting opportunity to nurses, occupational therapists or social workers who have strong assessment and therapeutic skills. You will need the ability to work autonomously whilst still contributing to the team as a whole. If you enjoy the challenge and stimulus of working under pressure and are able to remain calm in quickly changing circumstances, you will be well suited to this role.

To protect the health and safety of our staff/workers, patients, and those attending our sites, we encourage our workforce to get fully vaccinated against COVID.
