An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic professional to join the Older Persons Mental Health (OPMH) Service in the role of Lead Nurse. The OPMHS sits within the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Service Group (MHLD SG) in the Swansea Bay University HB and provides multi-disciplinary inpatient and community mental health services to older persons across Neath, Port Talbot and Swansea.

OPMHS is currently undergoing extensive service modernisation in line with National and local strategy which makes it such an exciting time to join the team!

Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Service Group sits within Swansea Bay UHB and provides hospital based and community services to people with complex mental health and learning disability needs. As a Service Group, our vision is for individuals to have easy access to tools and support, to maintain and improve their mental wellbeing so that they can live independently within their community.

We have strong links with Swansea University and Health Education and Improvement Wales as well as an established learning and development team all of which support ongoing professional development.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the senior nurse leadership team, the successful post holder will have responsibility for ensuring the consistent delivery of evidence based, safe and effective nursing, infection prevention, safeguarding and patient flow standards within their defined area of responsibility. The quality of the Health Boards clinical care and the safety of its patients are fundamental to its excellence, and the Lead Nurse role is central to the delivery of this key National and HB agenda.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
