The Yorkshire Centre for Eating Disorders is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Staff nurse to join the inpatient service, which is part of the new CONNECT service. This post is open to existing and newly qualified nurses. A preceptorship package will be offered to newly qualified applicants.

The ward is a 14 bedded ward offering treatment to patients who are resident in the Leeds, Wakefield, Kirklees, Calderdale and Bradford areas. The service offers inpatient assessment and treatment for patients with a diagnosed eating disorder, working closely with the CONNECT community team to provide seamless care.

Our aims are to manage significant physical risk and to manage this affectively. Offer a variety of evidence based psychological therapies and practical interventions. This will be in the form of individual sessions, and group work, all offered and led by all members of the MDT.

Main duties of the job

Our care is person centred and care planning individualised to meet patient need.

You will be responsible for a caseload of patients and following their journey, which is recovery focused for the time that they are in treatment on the ward.

It is not essential that you have experience of working with this client group, as an induction training and support will be offered. Specific training will be provided were necessary. We are really keen to hear from candidates who have a genuine interest and empathy in working with individuals with eating disorders and associated complex needs.

The service is committed to individuals own personal CPD and you will be supported through the trusts supervision and appraisal systems.

The post offers you an opportunity to work closely with families, and offer input into the services carers support group. We are keen to develop practical workshops for inpatients and their families in addition to increasing service user and carer involvement.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Has RMHN registration and has passed a period of preceptorship in a clinical setting.
Experience Essential
  • Has Experience of working in a mental health setting.
  • Has an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a band 5 nurse within the MDT
Skills Essential
  • Able to demonstrate a genuine interest for working with the client group, and in an inpatient setting
  • Able to demonstrate good risk management skills.
  • Able to demonstrate effective documentation.
