An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse to commence in Dudley Child & Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) Service.

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team. We are an energetic and hardworking team working with children and young people from the age of 0-18. We are a fully integrated multi-disciplinary team comprising Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Family Therapists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Worker, Psychiatrists and Youth Offending Team. The team also takes a range of students on practice placements.

Main duties of the job

  • To be part of the day to day delivery of clinical services provided by the core CAMHS service which includes neurodevelopmental clinics.
  • To complete specialist assessments, outcome measures and care plans for specific diagnoses associated with child and adolescent mental health
  • Work in collaboration with the senior team with regards to day to day issues that may arise through effective and proactive agreed communication.
  • To contribute to the clinical management of a team caseload of clients with complex needs, using CPA principles, evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, which will be delivered mainly in the home or community setting.
  • To support care co-ordination within the team and attend relevant professionals meetings as required.

A large part of the CAMHS professionals' work is to identify the problem, understand the causes and advise about what may help.

Job description Job responsibilities

As a Mental Health Nurse in CAMHS you will be responsible for the care of a caseload of young people with various emotional and mental health needs. You will also undertake regular assessments of young people who are new to the service, and be responsible for making recommendations about their future care. You will have a can do attitude and work collaboratively with colleagues in the team and partner agencies. You will be able to work creatively to meet the needs of young people and their families. You will have a sound understanding of the principles of risk assessment and management. In return, we will provide you with robust supervision, opportunities to attend peer group meetings, personal development and training opportunities.

Person Specification Education Essential
  • Degree in Mental Health Nursing ore equivalent
  • Post graduate training/course relevant to CAMHS
Skills and Abilities Essential
  • Knowledge of mental health problems in children and adolescents
Experience Essential
  • Post Graduate experience working in CAMHS.
  • Experience of CAMHS assessments and evidence-based interventions.
  • Experience and interest in working either with ASD or ADHD Clinics or Eating Disorder Clinic.
