We have an exciting 12 month fixed term/secondment opportunity for a highly experienced practitioner to work in the Easington South Adult Community Mental Health team to deliver Structured Clinical Management.

In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis.

This post is being advertised to address a temporary need however the Trust has made the commitment to offer Registered Nurses a permanent contract with the Trust. In the event that the need for this post ends, a suitable alternative post will be offered (this does not apply to other registered professions). Applicants should be aware that alternatives may require some flexibility on role and/or location.

Main duties of the job

You will have extensive experience of working within an inpatient and or community service for adults with complex mental health needs and have relevant post qualifying qualification.

You are required to have a high level of clinical expertise in working with people who present with personality and relational based needs. You will have a positive attitude towards service users with personality and relational difficulties. You will have an awareness of the clinical difficulties that arise for individuals and teams and be able to lead by example. The post requires the highest standards of professional practice, and exceptional communication and relationship skills.

It also requires the ability to be responsive and rapidly integrate with multi-disciplinary teams working collaboratively and providing clear leadership when required to professionals working within and outside the Trust. The post may suit applicants wishing to apply their previous knowledge and expertise in this specialist area in a different context. This could include, developing staff knowledge and skills across multiple teams, facilitation of multi-agency decision making, or working in partnership with groups in settings external to the Trust and NHS.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • RNMH/RNLD, current professional registration with NMC.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Qualification in non-medical prescribing or willingness to undertake within agreed timescale
  • Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area of practice
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable
  • Clinical leadership qualification.
  • Masters qualification in a subject relevant to the area of practice
Experience Essential
  • Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field.
  • Significant experience working with patients who display high risk behaviours
  • Mentoring students on practice placement experience
  • Leadership or management experience
Desirable
  • Delivering training and education to multi-professional groups.
  • Experience of working within a range of services, including inpatient and community settings.
Knowledge Essential
  • Clinical knowledge to masters level equivalent in own area of specialist practice
  • Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
  • Working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act.
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
Desirable
  • Specialist knowledge of working within a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency community team setting.
  • Principles of change management.
