Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) Senior CAAP Tutor (8b - 0.6 wte). Honorary Cardiff University titles are available (dependent on experience).

On behalf of Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) Cardiff and the Vale University Health Board in collaboration with Cardiff University are seeking to appoint a CAAP Senior Tutor to contribute to the delivery of a pilot of a new Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) MSc NHS Wales training programme. The appointee will work alongside the existing Doctorate in Clinical Psychology staff team. Agenda for Change terms and conditions apply to the post. The post holder would also be awarded an honorary Cardiff University academic post commensurate with their CV and would be expected to secure status as an honorary Senior Lecturer, or in exceptional circumstances as a Reader.

The successful applicant will have a DClinPsy or equivalent and be registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist. Accreditation with BABCP, AFT, or other recognised professional bodies would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

Whilst this is a part-time post (8b 0.6 wte) we would assist the successful candidate in finding additional sessions if required. The posts are offered either as a secondment or on a temporary contractual basis for a three-year period. Continuation beyond that is dependent on the programme being re-commissioned.

The successful applicants will be joining an established and respected Clinical Psychology Doctorate team. This role involves close collaboration and partnership working with University and NHS colleagues, including Clinical Psychologists, Service Users and Carers, and other healthcare professionals.

The CAAPs programme will be based close to the centre of Cardiff, and will seek to build close links with health boards in Mid, West, and South Wales. Cardiff is a vibrant University and capitol city. It has excellent rail, air, and road links to the rest of the UK and to the beautiful countryside and coastal areas of Wales.

If you would like to discuss this post informally prior to applying, please contact the South Wales Clinical Psychology Programme Director, Professor Andrew Thompson (thompsona18@cardiff.ac.uk).

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
