The Eating Disorders Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist is within the highly regarded CARE Accredited and nationally achieving, Surrey-wide Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Service. This is a highly attractive post and you will be joining our thriving, happy and well established multi-disciplinary team.

We are looking to recruit a total of 14.5 PA's Consultant C&A and/or Adult time. We are also happy to receive full and part time applications for this post.

You will be required to be aware of the Access and Waiting Times Agenda for community Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Services across England and the intended New Care Models Agenda for Surrey, Sussex and Kent that will focus on the shortening of specialist tier 4 admissions.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to enhance the established acute focus of the service and someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with a wide variety of clinicians who are very proud of the work that they do. Part of the role will include liaison with the 5 acute hospitals who may at times be caring for medically unstable young people.

We offer a generous salary package worth up to £114,003 per national terms plus fringe, on-call payments and other allowances which include recruitment premia, relocation allowance, and much more.

Main duties of the job

To provide a diagnostic, assessment and treatment service for children and adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, ARFID and Binge Eating Disorder. To lead on the new Acute Hospital Liaison pathway, interfacing with the five Paediatric Wards in Surrey. The successful candidate will also provide input, where needed, to the Enhanced Pathway, which aims to reduce hospital admissions by providing additional support to patients at home.

You will have:

  • A recognised basic Medical Degree and MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Full Medical Registration (GMC) with a Licence to Practice
  • Approved Clinician Status and approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act

Job description Job responsibilities

  • To promote the development of close and effective working relationships with colleagues in allied agencies, notably children’s services and education, paediatricians, commissioners and GP’s.
  • To record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively both in case records and supporting data entry for service data systems
  • To provide health information to other agencies where appropriate in accordance with the Trust’s confidentiality and information sharing policies.
  • To take part in emergency out of hours rota which provides back-up for junior doctors and professionals involved in the assessment of young people seen in A&E (see on call section below).


Professional
  • To receive regular clinical and managerial supervision as per the Trust policy of Supervision
  • To undertake all necessary statutory and mandatory training
  • To keep updated with latest research and participate with research as appropriate and as negotiated through Job Planning

Mangerial
  • To undertake the administrative and managerial duties associated with the care of his / her patients.
  • To have knowledge of the NHS England Eating Disorders Agenda as stated in the NHS England Access and Waiting Time (AWT) Guidance.
  • To cover colleagues during daytime hours, supporting annual leave and absences for short term sickness and study leave as far as possible.


Person Specification Experience Essential
  • Approved Clinician Status and approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
  • Experience of working at a consultant level
Qualifications Essential
  • A recognised basic Medical Degree and MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Full Medical Registration (GMC) with a Licence to Practice
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or CCT in
  • appropriate specialty (or within 6 months at time of
  • Interview/Assessment) or equivalent
  • Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing
  • leadership skills
