Rainbow Mother and Baby unit is a 6 bedded specialist commissioned service offering assessment, support and treatment to women suffering from acute mental health illness during their third trimester of pregnancy up to baby being 12mths old.

Admissions are accepted primarily from the east of England. The team work very closely with other key professions to ensure the best outcomes for both Mother and baby therefore strong communication skills are essential.

Perinatal work is an exciting area focusing not only on the individual but the extended family during what can be the most amazing and terrifying time in their life.

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic RMN whose is committed to providing the best possible care to women at an acutely vulnerable time in their lives while also supporting the wider family network

Main duties of the job

Support and act as Nurse in Charge in the specialist care of women suffering acute mental illness during the perinatal stage

Support in service development and treatment for Mothers and their babies based on evidence based practice

The applicant should have a keen interest in Perinatal Mental Health with a strong family not individual focus

Keyworking pre and post natal Mothers, assessing and treating acute mental health illness while supporting them in developing, expanding or continuing the Mother-Infant relationship in a safe and secure environment

Person Specification Education Essential
  • Valid RMN registration and ability to meet NMC revalidation criteria
Desirable
  • Training in regards to mentorship
  • Training in Parent/infant therapy
Experience Essential
  • Knowledge of and experience working with people with MH illness
Desirable
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Perinatal MH
  • Working within Acute mental health
