Our Hospital Assessment and Crisis Team is expanding! We are a dynamic and sociable team based in North Somerset & Bristol but working into major hospitals in the area. We have had investment from commissioners meaning that we have some very exciting new posts available. We are looking for registered professionals who are passionate about providing excellent mental health assessment and care to young people and their families when they present to hospital, or via our Emergency Response Line, in times of crisis.

As part of our service development new staff will have access to an extensive training programme over the next 12 months including: Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Eating Disorder Training, Non-Violent Resistance Therapy (NVR), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), AMBIT and more.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide assessment of young people presenting to hospital around North Somerset with self -injurious behaviour and emerging mental health problems, such as Eating Disorders and Psychosis, covering the area of North Somerset. We are expanding to cover a 7 day period working a number of shifts between the hours of 8am - 10pm. Staff may be required to work up to 3 nights per month, and one weekend 9am -10pm.

The post holder will provide urgent mental health assessment based on identified criteria,supported and supervised by a Band 7 clinician, in both the community and hospital settings.

The role will include hospital assessments, 7 day follow up appointments following hospital presentation, containment, crisis management and risk consultation across the service. Linking in with wider multiagency professionals coordinating complex care and discharge planning.

Day to day leadership on service delivery and development will be provided by the TeamManager, along with senior clinicians as will caseload and management supervision.

Provision of rapid access to specialist CAMHS advice and support and to enable referrers todeal more effectively with a range of mental health problems.

Management of high risk young people in the community through intensive support.

Increased detection of mental health problems/needs with improved care, treatment andpromotion of improved understanding of and confidence in the delivery of mental health careand collaboration with all agencies involved in the care of young people and families.

Provision of targeted formal and informal learning opportunities for all staff within the primarycare teams to develop their knowledge and capabilities within the mental health component ofholistic care

Provision of information sign-posting and support for young people and families.
