An innovative and exciting vacancy has become available for a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist working within a multi-provider provision to co-deliver and co-produce courses and workshops within Thurrock Recovery College and to assist individuals in the transitioning from secondary mental health services to utilize primary care resources.

This post will particularly suit a committed, experienced, confident and recovery focused occupational therapist who is keen to help in the development and delivery of recovery college in the South West of the Trust. The therapist will work alongside both EPUT services and our partners (MPFT and MIND). It is important that you are able to work autonomously with partner organisations; supervising junior staff including students as required, whilst adopting a flexible and positive approach.

As an individual you will have commitment to continue your own development and actively participate in providing a variety of learning opportunities for students and the rest of the team. In return we offer excellent training and development through our Workforce Development Department and within the service. Support is maintained through regular supervision and appraisal to assist you the successful candidate in setting realistic objectives enabling you in maintaining a positive attitude towards delivering quality customer care.

Main duties of the job

  • To enable students, through discussion, to identify within their Individual Learning Plans (ILP) appropriate courses that meet their functional needs.
  • In liaison with colleagues within local mental health teams, identify potential students for the continuation of their recovery journey within the recovery college, assist with the transition process.
  • To develop and deliver recovery focused workshops/courses in co-production on behalf of EPUT It is the post holders duty to ensure that students are integral in the co-design and co-delivery of all aspects of the Recovery College
  • To attend relevant clinical case discussions and meetings

The post- holder will be working within the Recovery College based within the Thurrock locality. The base is currently based within Grays Health Centre, but delivery is from a variety of locations within the locality, with limited virtual delivery.

You will be working with students who have experienced issues with mental health, supporting them within their recovery by delivering co-developed educationally focused workshops/courses.
