Hampshire CAMHS (Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) are looking to recruit for an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist or a Mental health practitioner with an interest in neuro conditions to join Basingstoke CAMHS for 0.6 WTE. The focus of this role is to work within a multidisciplinary CAMHS Team to provide evidence based, NICE compliant assessment for children and young people with suspected social and communication difficulties. In addition, supporting some of these young people with case management and therapeutic offer for their comorbid mental health difficulties alongside progressing assessments. There is also scope to take on non-ASD cases as a caseholder and for Occupational Therapy specific input where deemed suitable in the wider team.

We are hugely interested to hear from applicants who are interested in developing these skills and can demonstrate how their core competencies could be adapted and honed with the support of additional training (provided by the trust).

Main duties of the job

Your main duties will involve;

Offering evidence based, NICE compliant assessment for children and young people with suspected social and communication difficulties on our Autism diagnostic pathway.

Supporting some young people with co-morbid mental health difficulties in case holding and therapeutic intervention by identifying with the young person, their family, carers and professional network to explore and / or return to meaningful and valued activity.

To contribute to the wider CAMHS MDT in supporting the assessment of a young person's mental health needs to inform a shared formulation around the young person's presenting difficulties and needs to recommend suitable therapeutic intervention.

To support the professional development of junior Occupational Therapists through supervision within the wider Hampshire CAMHS services

The Basingstoke specialist CAMHS team is looking to recruit a highly skilled Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Practitioner with an interest in and significant experience of working with children and young people with ASC (autism).

The multi-disciplinary team (MDT) is friendly and innovative, and would provide the right candidate with an opportunity to work in an exciting and challenging environment, with high levels of complexity and risk.

As with other community teams across Hampshire, you would join a strong MDT, offering assessments and interventions to children, young people and their families. The team works in partnership with specialist teams county-wide, including the single point of access, eating disorders and crisis teams, to best support the children and young people in its care.
