We are looking for a Band 6 Clinical Lead to join our established team on a permanent basis in our modern Dementia Assessment Unit in Macclesfield.

Silk ward provides specialist inpatient assessment and treatment for people with dementia. It is a 15-bed mixed gender unit and includes a sensory garden space with raised beds. The bedrooms have digital photo frames to make the surroundings more homely and dementia friendly. There is also space for occupational therapy activities such as creative writing and reminiscence artwork.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a registered nurse with a passion for dementia care, development of services and systems, and knowledge of supervision and audit processes. The ideal applicant will also have a good understanding of the leadership style required to be part of a ward leadership team to support the Ward Manager in delivering a high quality mental health service.

The role will involve working within set objectives which reflect the direction of the service and the Trust, providing clinical leadership within the ward team to promote a high standard of patient care, and providing management support, deputising for the Ward Manager in their absence.

1. Source of expertise for clinical practice for the care team. Able to demonstrate, through personal skills and achievement, a high level of patient care, using processes such as role modelling and supervision.

2. To undertake audit of evidence based interventions to ensure continued best practice.

3. Engage with MDT to ensure holistic patient centred care planning.

4. Able to assess, evaluate and advise staff on care planning and discharge planning.

5. Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the identification and management of risk.

6. Develop ways to improve efficiency and patient care.

All new clinical support staff will be required to have completed or working towards the Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 6 months of start date).

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.

  • A willingness to undertake further training.
