Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust run this service in partnership with Solent Mind. The service is run by clinical staff employed by SHFT and Peer Specialists employed by Solent Mind following a co-production model way of working.

The service is easily accessible to our community and open to all. The model focuses on supporting visitors to self-manage and work in partnership with the staff to create safety plans based on peer support and practical, recovery focused approaches their mental health. The model challenges more traditional prescriptive approaches to crisis care in mental health. The service has just celebrated it’s first birthday.

Soundbite from one of our peer specialists working in the team:

'It is a privilege to work in a team who are so committed to supporting and empowering people in the local community through some of their most difficult times, whilst working together to share knowledge and support one another. '

The successful candidates will have the unique and innovative opportunity to be involved in the development of crisis care for adult mental health service users in the City of Southampton. The successful applicant will need a variety of skills, both on a personal and professional level, and confidence in their own ability to work collaboratively with guests, peer specialists and the wider team.

As a Senior Practitioner in the team, you will be taking a lead role in the support and supervision of your colleagues, as well taking a positive role in the evaluation and continued development of the service. You will champion the model and promote co-production at all levels of service development.
